“Going Somewhere When No One Else Is Has It’s Benefits.” Josh Gauthier

Coordinating everyone's schedules and deciding on the best time is difficult.  A big part of the decision is whether you want to visit a destination in the peak season, shoulder season or off-season.  The time of year and season can create a different trip.

Keep in mind that if you visit a place during shoulder season, your group may want to travel during the off-season or peak season.  This will bring a fresh experience from the same location.

Peak, Shoulder or Off Season Which One Will You Choose?

Each destination has specific periods of time that are peak.  This is , it’s the most popular time to see the sites.   You'll find lots of festivals and other events that happen.  Going during this time you get to experience the site with all the other people that are there.  Some travelers avoid peak season because they get crowded.  When there are tons of other tourists you don’t have as much access to the sites you want to see, it’s too busy.

During peak season getting accommodations and reservations are difficult.  Also, many places increase their rates during peak season.  There’s more demand than supply and these places sell out a year in advance.  You tend not to find the best deals during this time due to so many people vying for the same spaces and experiences.

Our recommendation is to travel during shoulder season.  Those are the times of the year that are off-peak.  The demand for accommodations and reservations are lower, there are better deals  and it tends to be less crowded.

More experienced travelers embrace off-peak season travel.  Off-peak travel is ideal when you want to experience a destination and what it has to offer without the crowds.  With more locals out and about.  Off-peak season offers many of the most intimate and personal experiences.  Locals AK more time Adan have more patience with off-peak tourists.

When Does Everyone's Schedules Sync Up?

Finding time in everyone's schedule can be difficult. This is one of many reasons we don’t recommend trying to plan group travel for spur of the moment travel.

Everyone should be able to give you a range of dates that they’ll be available or a season they prefer to travel in.  The goal is to get a good percentage of the group to agree on one set of dates.  The rest will make the time if the majority commit to a specific time frame.

If you allow to much space in the schedule no one will ever commit to certain dates.  Your group leader will have to take charge here and drive the decision.  We’ve seen so many group trips put on hold for years due to never being able to agree on a schedule.

The Goal Is To Form A Consensus.

When you focus on the majority there will be some people that won’t be able to attend.  Keep them in mind and in the loop in case their plans change, there’s always an opportunity to add them last minute.

Publish your schedule for the group and make an adjustments cone everyone has had the time to review it.  Don’t let the schedule sit out there for months, give them at most a week or two.  IF no one requests any changes it’s time to set your budget and book that trip.
