One of our favorite parts of being a travel advisor is planning group travel. It’s our opportunity to dig in with you the clients and determine what special vacating you want to take.
 
Group travel has many meanings in the world of travel.
 
Groups consist of about anything and anyone. The typical group travel is about a set of people who share a common interest or relationship.
 
Activities from active adventures like biking, hiking and other adventured. To special interests like history, culinary, wine or any hobby that you enjoy. There’s also the family and friends groups.
 
It’s great bringing your extended family together in one destination. To gather everyone together to experience something different.

Whether you know them from the start of the trip or you start off as complete strangers. It’s about building that connection through the shared experience of travel that makes group travel so magical.
 
How To Decide Whether To Travel As A Group Or Not?
 
Getting all the necessary people lined up to take a trip together can be daunting. When you consider coordinating schedules, deciding on a destination, how you want to explore and even the budget. You may want to throw your hands up at the thought of planning a group trip.
 
When you’re the point person for a group planning all the details can be difficult at best. Here are some helpful tips to plan your next group adventure.
 
1. What is the group about?
 
Is it a family getaway, a friends getaway, an activity your club wants to do, an association meeting or even a business meeting. Setting the purpose of the group trip makes it easier to fill in the rest of the details.
 
2. Who Is Going?
 
Knowing who’s going to take part is key to finding the right destination. If only a handful of people are going you may have more options than if a hundred people are attending. It also help swath the logistics like transpiration, excursions and activities.
 
3. What Will You Be Doing?
 
When you’re dealing with a group of people it’s hard to find something everyone likes to do. Most group travel includes many activities so everyone gets to do what they want. There may be a subset of your cycling group that likes mountain climbs while others prefer the open road. Survey your group and group together as many answers as possible.
 
4. Where Will You Go?
 
This may seem far down on the list. Trust us, after planning many group trips it’s critical to nail down the other components first.
 
When you know what you’re about, who’s going and what you’ll be doing finding the right destination with the right accommodations and actives becomes easier.
 
5. When Will You Go?
 
One of the last parts is when is the best time for everyone to get together? When you have all the details in place it’s easier to get commitments from people on their schedules. It allows them time to book the time off well in advance.
 
Rarely will a group travel be spontaneous. There’s too many moving parts to coordinate for a quick weekend away. Those can happen, but they are very hectic and not very fulfilling from our experience.
 
6. What’s Your Budget?
 
The final piece is the budget. What is everyone willing and able to spend to make this happen? Are there some people that will back out if it costs too much?
 
When considering everyone's budgets. Are there alternatives that get them to the destination and included on the excursions at a different price? When you have a specific spend allocated it’s easier to identify value added services.
 
When You Take The Time To Plan Group Travel It Can Be Amazing.
 
When you plan group travel these become amazing trips with all the little details worked out. Everyone gets what they want out of the journey and takes home memories of a lifetime. When you propose another group outing people will be lining up to join.
 
The opposite happens when group travel isn’t planned or planned poorly you end up with a vacation that is not satisfying. Everyone has a horrible time and will never want to do it again.
