The right amount of time to spend away from home depends on many factors, including your budget, where you are going and whether you plan to travel solo or with others.

Don't Go Too Long

If you're planning a trip somewhere far away, make sure you leave enough time to return home safely and to decompress from the stress of traveling.  Always take into consideration how much time you'll need to travel to your destination.  The last thing you want to do is rush out of work, get up early, jump on a plane and be worn out before you even start your vacation.

That's why we always recommend at least one day of buffer on each end of your vacation, this not only ensures you have a cushion in case something goes amiss with your transportation, but you'll also have enough time to recuperate.

Do Something Active

It's also important to take breaks when traveling.  Try to do something active every day, when we plan vacations for our clients one of our main priorities is to balance your itinerary, to sprinkle in the perfect amount of excursions, experiences, and activities that are tailored to you.  We've found that this ensures your vacation becomes something unique and memorable.

Have Fun With It

The length of our vacation depends on where you're going.  Is the destination you chose someplace you'd like to spend an extended amount of time in?  Is there enough to do or occupy yourself with for an extended period of time?  Many Caribbean vacations tend to only last a week, that's when many of the travelers there start to become restless and want to switch it up.  When you're traveling through Europe or the Mediterranean there's much more to see and experience so a longer stay makes sense.

The Short Answer Is...

There is no perfect amount of time for a vacation, it's entirely dependent upon where you want to go, what you want to experience, and who you're going with.  Most people block themselves into one or two-week intervals because that's what we're allotted by our company.  We've taken trips of a month or longer and they have been incredible, while we were working our full-time corporate jobs before remote work became popular.  Imagine a month off work without having to answer an e-mail, a phone call, or attend a meeting.
